Scherben/Shards

Biel, Centre Pasquart, Juni 2017

Installation of 20 pieces, 18 cm diameter per piece

Porcelain

In Shards she applied the rigid geometry to porcelain. It was almost impossible to produce since the forces of the different shapes are working against each other. In the installation Julia attempted to find new constellations between the different shapes of the shards. One can concentrate on the single piece and all the directions it’s pointing or perceive it as a part of the whole of the installation and how it’s connected through it’s position as well as the invisible lines our brain is creating. The shards almost become signs or indicators. They go into a relationship with the other pieces but can easily stand for themselves. The wall installation becomes a starry firmament.
